Nursing Home Abuse

Abuse of patients in nursing homes is more common than many people think. One of the most vulnerable groups of patients, nursing care residents, often needlessly suffer at the hands of those in whom we place our greatest trust. Bed sores (or decubitous ulcerations) which can lead to aggressive and often deadly infections are a common and often avoidable consequence of nursing and medical malfeasance in these settings. Other common abuses include fractures from bedside and other falls, elopement or wandering away from the facility, malnutrition, dehydration, verbal and psychological abuse and even sexual abuse.

Fortunately the law does provide compensable legal regal remedies for our nursing home patients, both elderly patients, mentally incompetent patients and others who require management in skilled nursing facilities.
